We knew Justa as a chain of small business hotels, primarily in Gurgaon and Bangalore. So while looking for options to stay in the remote town of Barmer in Rajastan, Justa Sanchal Fort resort popped up as a surprise option.
Fort Sanchal resort is about 4 km from Barmer town and in a village tucked away 2 km off from the main road. Barmer is not a tourist place, and so it surprised us to find this kind of a resort there. The customers are mainly businessmen working in the oil and ancillary industries and families of the armed forces, apart from business conferences. The slump in the oil industry has had an impact in business. Many of the ancillary units supporting ONGC and Cairn have been shut down.
The resort is well laid out, built in the traditional Rajasthani architecture. Incidentally, there is no old fort and the construction is completely new, with spacious rooms, a pool, a gym, and a spa. Great food and courteous staff complete the experience.
We did some chit chat with Sanjay, the friendly resort manager who made a good suggestion that we visit the abandoned ancient temples of Kiradu, about 35 km from Barmer town. More about Kiradu later.
That is such a nice and clean-looking pool!
